A South African Bakery
Red Velvet Cake
I woke up one morning in Cape Town wanting something sweet. I had a full day in the city and the day was drawing to a close. Most places were closing and I thought I would google bakeries that stayed open later than others. That’s when google mentioned Limno’s Bakery. I was looking for Red Velvet Cake and it was in the search descriptions.
I took a quick Uber from the restaurant where I had finished dinner and I pulled up on a quaint bakery in a small business center. I walked in and was so surprised by cases and cases of treats. There was gelato, tortes, cakes, pies, eclairs, cupcakes, and more. I had originally came for Red Velvet cake but I was quickly starting to change my mind. The 2 women working there were very polite and asked me if I wanted a “take away” (they don’t call it to go in Africa) box or if I wanted to eat in. The place was very cute and comfortable so I decided to eat in.
The cake was delicious. Not too sweet. The cake was moist and the frosting was really good. The extra white chocolate on top was great. Definitely in the top 3 pieces of red velvet I’ve ever had. When I return to Cape Town, I’ll come back here to try some of the other things. The prices were VERY reasonable. I paid like $4 US dollars for my cake.
